Giants | National Park Photographer

This past week Buffalo Media Group found ourselves in central California for a commercial product shoot. During our stay we covered a lot of ground towards the end of the shoot. We allowed a rain day backup just in case we needed to bump a shoot day. Luckily for us, we didn’t have to and were able to set out and shoot Sequioa National Park. As many of you know, we love shooting National Parks whenever we get the opportunity. We approached the gates and were told we could not see the sequioa tress today….unless you have snow chains. Fortunately for us there was a chain rental place down the road where we could grab some. We didn’t have to put them on but had to have them in case inclement weather were to spring up. We headed all the way up the high Sierra Nevada’s to the sequioa grove that was completely covered in fresh, white snow! We were in for a real treat seeing the ancient giants in fresh snow. The sequioa trees are dated around 2,200 years old and the General Sherman tree being the largest tree in the world…stunning! Sequioa National Park was so much more than the sequioa groves, it was amazing mountains, valleys, rivers and streams. All that combined with some moody weather and a fresh, spring bloom, the place was a sort of Eden. Sequioa National Park ranks up there as certainly one of our favorites so far, but we still have plenty more parks to go!
